Grace Easter

The Aboriginal Nurses Manitoba Incorporated has been established to support the Aboriginal Nurses working in the First Nation and Metis communities throughout the province. The Grace Easter Memorial Scholarship Fund was established to honor her commitment, dedication, and contributions to the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal people.

Ms. Grace Easter played a significant role in Aboriginal Health in Indigenous communities. Ms. Grace Easter was a nurse who originated from the Chemawawin Cree Nation (Easterville). Ms. Easter served as the President of the Manitoba Indian Nurses Association, and was instrumental in the development of a “Senior Housing Complex” known as the Kekinan Centre Inc. located at 100 Robinson Street in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Grace also worked as the Health Coordinator/Liaison for the Manitoba Indian Brotherhood for a number of years. Tragically, at age 31, she lost her battle with a terminal illness.
